The District of Columbia Chapter gathered in the early evening atop one of the tallest
buildings overlooking the Potomac River, Georgetown, and the National Mall aptly named the 'Capital View Ballroom.'
The Host Committee, Chris Beck, Ron Carsell, Ray Collins, Bob Craycraft, Grant Griffith, Chairman, Joseph Machado, Joe Smith,
and Evert Sowards, warmly greeted Members and Guests and escorted them into the completely fenestrated ballroom.
Watching the lights turn on in the Watergate Hotel and Housing Complex,
the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the National Mall yielded an entertaining diversion while waiters
circulated with petite lobster rolls, beef carpaccio, goat cheese fritters, and gazpacho shots. In addition, Members
gravitated around a 'groaning board' of smorgasbord-like cheese and cured meats as batenders were at peak performance
until the bells tolled for dinner.
After converging in the Ballroom for dinner, President Robert Pullen welcomed
everyone, introduced the Host Committee, Members from the Rehoboth Beach/Lewes Chapter, and invited guests. He congratulated
the Host Committee and offered a toast to them for shepherding a very successful event. Robert concluded his presentation
by announcing the Host Committee for the Spring 2011 event.

Shortly thereafter dining was initiated in earnest with an Autumn Salad
of Red Oak Greens, Bleu Cheese, and a Poached Apple-Pear Compote served with Champagne Vinaigrette paired with a vintage Virginia
Chardonnay.
Following the Autumn Salad was either a Salmon with Dill Sauce or a Bacon-Wrapped
Pork Tenderloin with Braised Red Cabbage. Parmesan-Garlic Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Harticots Verts Almandine
were the excellent accompaniments paired with either a Virginia Chardonnay or a vintage Virginia Merlot.
As Members and Guests eagerly fraternized and enjoyed the night-lit views
of the National Mall, the piece de resistance, of the evening was unveiled for all savor.
With the scent of chocolate flooding into the Ballroom, Members and Guests
were exposed to a Dark, Milk, and White Chocolate Fondue Presentations. Waves of chocolate were utilized to cover
petite cakes and fresh fruits.
With rain and fog enveloping the Ballroom's fenestrations and partially
obscuring the night-lit view of the City of Washington, the Members of the District of Columbia Chapter of the Black Tie Club
International and their select Guests concluded another evening of 'Excellent Food, Superb Wine, and good fellowship
and camaraderie'.
